Food52 Genius Recipes: 100 Recipes That Will Change the Way You Cook by Kristen Miglore and Amanda Hesser

Not long ago, I decided to go about the business of learning more about food. I did already consider myself to be a reasonably competent cook; However, I really wanted to broaden my horizons a bit and shake things up while educating myself. While the thought of culinary school is enticing, the logistics of making that work aren’t something I want to undertake. And, really, my end goal isn’t to become a professional chef. I want to be an exceptionally good home cook.

Enter Food52’s Genius Recipes. I had read considerable buzz online about the cookbook after it was published in April. After checking out a copy from the local library, I understood all the talk. Many of the collection of recipes came from respected sources and sounded delicious. I wanted to make everything. So that’s exactly what I decided to do. I will cook and eat my way through the entire cookbook, documenting on this blog as I go. The recipe index is below. I’ll link to recipe posts as I make progress.

A few fine points. This project has an open-ended deadline. While I want to keep the project moving, the point is to learn and enjoy the process. The last thing I want to do is stress over a schedule. I will post recipes only if they are already available on Food52‘s website or elsewhere online in places such as the originator’s website. I live in Topeka, which means I might not able able to source some ingredients. I’ll do my best to stay true to the recipes but I reserve the right to find reasonable substitutes when necessary.

So… let’s get crackalacking.
