It has been a stir-crazy, cabin-fever kind of day.
I worked but it was a slow day. I decided to call in reinforcements from the outside world and meet me in the NOTO Arts District for lunch. NOTO is really blossoming; I love seeing all the new stores, galleries & activity down there.
The menu board had changed a bit since the last time I was there. I was hoping they’d have a special of some sort. I’ve seen specials posted on Facebook from time to time and they usually look really good. I ordered off the menu and asked for the Serendipito in bowl form. (I misunderstood the menu and thought I could get it in the form of nachos. The staff member’s reaction was a bit off-putting but whatever. It got sorted out.)
And here… is the Serendipito Bowl in all its glory! What you can’t see underneath all the lovely cheesy-beefiness is a layer of caramelized onions, black beans and white rice. There is also some Cholula aioli in there somewhere. Off to the side, are several cups of various salsas. Can’t help myself. I always have to try several of them. That’s part of the fun.
The bowl was crazy good. It really hit the spot on a cool day. Everything was cooked and seasoned very well. Heat was minimal but you can always layer on a little more caliente at the table, if that’s your thing. I tried 5 of the sauces and today the Mild, Hot and Sweet on Jenny were what were hitting me in all the right places. How can you not love fresh salsa?
Side note: NOTO Burrito observes Taco Tuesday, a most sacred high holy day in our office. Next time I work on a Tuesday, I might see if we can’t get a group order together.
And… Bunker Coffee. I didn’t order a coffee but will likely hit them up sometime in the near future. I did get a few pieces of cake–carrot and lemon-raspberry–to take back to the office, though. Office Dudes could probably use a little something in the afternoon!
